Shelly H. Watson, M.D.

As a board-certified cornea and cataract surgeon, Dr. Shelly Watson treats corneal diseases such as Fuchs dystrophy, keratoconus, and corneal swelling after earlier eye surgery, and performs corneal transplants (PKP, DSEK, and DMEK) as well as routine and complex cataract surgery. She also provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care.

She graduated summa cum laude and as class valedictorian from Dickinson College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Medical school at the University of Maryland was followed by residency at George Washington University, serving as chief resident and receiving the Mervin Zimmerman Ophthalmology Award of Excellence. She completed fellowship training in cornea, refractive, and external disease at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Watson has published peer-reviewed research, presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, reviewed manuscripts for the journal Cornea, and advocated for patients' access to care before Congress as an ophthalmology advocacy ambassador. Her own family's experience with vision-threatening disease motivates her work. She enjoys calligraphy, travel, hiking, and time with her husband and children.
