Dr. David Forster is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has practiced with NVOA since 1991. His work combines comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery with subspecialty care for uveitis — inflammatory disease inside the eye.
After undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, he earned his medical degree with honors from the State University of New York at Buffalo, completed ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University, and then trained for two years in uveitis at the Doheny Eye Institute in Southern California.
Dr. Forster previously led the Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology as its president and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He has written journal articles and textbook chapters on ocular inflammatory disease and has been included in Washingtonian's Top Doctors list.
He enjoys travel with his family, skiing, cycling, and playing the drums.
