Glaucoma and cataract care — medical, laser, and surgical — is the specialty of Dr. Noureen Khan, a board-certified ophthalmologist whose glaucoma work includes minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). As a comprehensive ophthalmologist she also treats diabetic eye disease, age-related eye conditions, and complex cataracts.
She leads clinical research at NVOA as Head of Clinical Research, has served on the American Glaucoma Society's Financial Committee, and speaks as a consultant on glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Dr. Khan graduated summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University's accelerated six-year medical program, including a year of study at the Sorbonne in Paris, and is fluent in French. She completed ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University and a glaucoma surgery fellowship at Northwestern University, then served on the faculty of Loyola University Chicago before returning to the Washington area. She has performed cataract and glaucoma surgery as a volunteer in Guatemala and volunteers closer to home at free eye clinics run with the ADAMS Center and the Lions Eye Club.
What she values most in glaucoma care is the long-term relationship with each patient. Outside work she enjoys time with her husband and three children, fitness classes, gardening, and good chocolate.
