Dr. Amritha Sundaresan is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery. She treats routine and complex cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and other age-related eye conditions.
She completed the combined eight-year Rice/Baylor medical program, graduating summa cum laude from Rice University, with two university honors — the Outstanding Senior Award and the Rice University Service Award. She earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency at Washington University School of Medicine / Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She has been first author on multiple scientific papers presented at ARVO, ASCRS, and ASOPRS meetings. Her volunteer public-health education work in Cusco, Peru earned the U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award. She speaks Spanish and conversational Telugu, and enjoys new restaurants, strength training, and local coffee shops.
